Why should I leave a gift in my Will? Every gift, large and small, helps protect Hospice care for the future. Leaving a gift in your Will to Strathcarron is a profound way to have an impact for generations to come. These special gifts help us pay for so many essential efforts: making a Memory Box for children or grandchildren, having expert palliative care in your own home, or enjoying a walk with family in the beautiful Hospice grounds. Your Gift allows us o provide a space that allows people to be who they are; enabling people to be together and create special memories that matter, including much loved pets. Your Gift means counselling for a recently bereaved daughter. It means physiotherapy for someone who wants to get back on the golf course. It means fun days out and happy family memories for an individual living with a complex and life-limiting condition. It is a phone line for a carer who needs someone to talk to. Your Gift means a husband and wife spending their final hours together, supported by our specialist teams. It means a dad staying at home for family Christmases and birthdays. It means someone making new friends in our community Snowdrop Cafes. When you leave a Gift in your Will to Strathcarron Hospice, you will be supporting future generations across our local community to benefit from hospice care. To make all the difference for our community. To make every moment count. Kenny trialled the VR headset in his home, with Gillian, one of our Clinical Nurse Specialists in the Community, just days before he died.Gillian says, “It was so important for Kenny to be able to see his beloved holiday spot in Portugal, as unfortunately he was unable to travel since he and his wife sold up his timeshare a few years ago. He told me that they had been making their annual summer trip for many years, and that he longed to go back, but was no longer able. I really sensed Kenny’s sadness, so I mentioned that we had a VR Headset and he could be potentially ‘transported’ back to Portugal. He smiled and said, “Yeah, why not”! Kenny's wife, Marion also got to experience the VR Headset, which meant that they could both chat about what they had seen and relive precious times together”.Marion, said: “It was brilliant to see Kenny so immersed in all these different holiday experiences in Portugal through the VR Headset. Whilst I was watching him, I could tell he was enjoying it. When he took off the headset, he looked so calm - it was quite emotional for us both. I still remember this day and how much Kenny really enjoyed this experience, it’s great to have those memories”. We understand that your loved ones come first when the time comes to write or update your Will, but it’s also a way to continue to support a cause that matters to you. Only 33% of our funding is from the Government. The rest is from people like you giving donations, taking part in events, buying in our shops and leaving us gifts in their Wills. Gifts in Wills are an easy way to support hospice care. You can leave us any amount that works for you, even 1% will make a difference. Because we receive the money in the future, it doesn’t cost you anything in your lifetime. If you do choose to leave a gift, you will be helping to protect Hospice care for people across Forth Valley in the future. Every gift, large or small, makes a difference.
