Fallin pupils remember loved ones with special walk for 'To Absent Friends' Week To Absent Friends Week ‘To Absent Friends’ week (1-7 November) is an opportunity to remember, to tell stories, to celebrate and to reminisce about people we love who have died. It is an opportunity to revive lost traditions and create new ones. To mark the week there were a variety of activities taking place across the area. This included pupils from Fallin Primary School painting stones in memory of loved ones and taking part in a sponsored walk in the village in aid of Strathcarron and the local Snowdrop Café. At the top of Fallin Bing they laid their stones in a cairn as a community to mark ‘To Absent Friends’ week and had a moment of reflection. Killin Walk in the Park group marked the week by planting a tree in memory of three of their group who were supported by Strathcarron when they were end of life. And Strathcarron Hospice released the latest podcast in the Strathcarron Stories Podcast series featuring Sarah and Libby – women whose husbands were both supported by the Hospice when they were end of life and have now become friends through shared experience. The podcast shares their story of grief, told with frankness, sadness and great humour. Sarah said: "(Libby and I) forged a bond over the commonality of our husbands dying at the same time. There are things we have been able to share and be honest about without any judgement. “Speaking to someone else that is in the same situation helps. “I’m amazed that I actually laughed out loud at some of our chat and I hope that means this podcast will go some way in breaking down the barriers and misconceptions around living through grief and loss".
