Central FM's Brad takes on 45 hour fundraising broadcast for Strathcarron Central FM Presenter Brad Yule to Broadcast for 45 Hours Non-Stop for Strathcarron Hospice’s 45th Anniversary Breakfast Show Presenter and Head of Content Brad Yule is preparing to take on an extraordinary challenge in support of Strathcarron Hospice’s 45th anniversary, broadcasting live for 45 hours non-stop on Central FM to raise vital funds for the charity. The special event, titled “Brad’s Big Broadcast”, will begin at 13:00 on Thursday 2 April and continue right through until 10:00 on Saturday 4 April, with Brad remaining live on air for the entire 45-hour marathon. The ambitious broadcast aims to celebrate 45 years of Strathcarron Hospice delivering compassionate care in the hospice and across local communities, while encouraging listeners across the Forth Valley to support the charity and help raise essential funds. Throughout the broadcast, Brad will be joined by fellow Central FM presenters during their usual show slots, as well as a host of special guests including local people who hold Strathcarron Hospice close to their hearts. Listeners can also expect performances and appearances from talented local musicians and community acts. In a unique twist, Brad will also be roaming across the Forth Valley while remaining live on air, bringing the programme directly into the communities that Strathcarron Hospice serves. Brad Yule said: “I am incredibly excited and nervous at the same time to be embarking on this mammoth broadcast. However, it’s for such a great local cause – I feel you’re never too far away from someone who Strathcarron has supported. To be able to help raise funds by doing something I love, presenting on the radio, is a real bonus.” Brad has also praised the support already shown by the Hospice team, who have helped set up an easy way for listeners to donate during the broadcast. Listeners can support the challenge by texting BRAD to 70560 to donate £5. Texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message. Supporting a Vital Local Charity Strathcarron Hospice has been supporting individuals and families across Forth Valley and Cumbernauld for 45 years, providing specialist care for people living with life-limiting illnesses. Everything the hospice does is guided by its mission: “Everything we do in our community is for our community, and with our community, to enable people to live and die well.” The hospice cares for people with a wide range of life-limiting conditions including cancer, motor neurone disease (MND), heart failure, respiratory illnesses, neurological conditions and other progressive diseases, supporting patients and families at the moments they need it most. Its specialist multidisciplinary team includes nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, chaplains, patient and family support staff and creative arts facilitators – all working together to provide compassionate, person-centred care. Guided by the question “What’s important to you?”, Strathcarron Hospice’s strategy focuses on meeting the complex needs of local communities and reaching more people who could benefit from palliative care earlier in their illness journey, helping them live life as fully as possible. A Charity Powered by Community Support Strathcarron Hospice is a local charity, and its services are completely free for those who use them. However, the hospice must raise over £19,452 every single day to continue delivering its vital care. With only one third of its funding coming from the Government, the hospice relies heavily on the generosity of supporters across the community to make up the shortfall and ensure its services remain available to those who need them. Claire Kennedy, Corporate Fundraiser at Strathcarron Hospice, said: “We are blown away by the incredible challenge Brad has set himself. What an effort to put in to raise funds and awareness for Strathcarron Hospice – we wish him all the best for the challenge and look forward to listening along the way!” Funds raised through Brad’s Big Broadcast will help Strathcarron continue providing care, support and comfort to patients and families across the region. More details about how listeners can get involved and donate will be announced by Central FM in the lead up to the broadcast.
