Our CEO Mags McCarthy has been ‘back to the floor’ this week spending time on the ward of our in-patient unit, our Lymphoedema Clinic and in the community with our Clinical Nurse Specialist team.

Mags, a former nurse, is shadowing different teams around the Hospice during her first few months to engage with staff and hear directly about their experiences.

This has also given Mags an opportunity to spend time with the people we support, gaining a greater insight into the impact of our services.

Mags said: “It has been really positive to experience a variety of areas of the organisation and gain a greater understanding of the different roles, meeting staff, volunteers, patients and their families.

“Strathcarron is an incredible place to work and our staff and volunteers do an amazing job. Everyone has been really welcoming and it has been a good listening exercise for me.

“It is really important to hear first-hand stories and feedback as we look to the future of the Hospice and how we can shape that as a team together.”

Mags will be spending time with our Creative Homecare, Live Your Life and Hospice at Home staff in the coming weeks.
