Falkirk FC fans hit the target with donations Falkirk Football Club invited a special visitor to their stadium to take part in a cross bar challenge on Saturday. Ron, the Strathcarrron Hospice mascot stepped out onto the pitch in front of the Falkirk and Dunfermline fans at half time to attempt to hit the woodwork. Unfortunately on this occasion Ron missed the target, however the Hospice fundraising team joined him at the stadium for a bucket collection with over £1663.84 being generously donated by fans! Claire Kennedy, Corporate Fundraiser at Strathcarron Hospice, said: “We would like to thank our charity partner Falkirk FC for their community spirit and generosity in inviting us along to fundraise at this match. Ron needs to work on his shooting skills for next time but he loved meeting the players and fans!” Paddy Hainey, Operations and Communications Manager at Falkirk Football Club, said: “Falkirk Football Club is delighted at the recent figure of £1663.84 which was raised through the generosity of our fan base. We look forward to working with Strathcarron to provide our supporters with additional opportunities to help fundraise for the Hospice in future." The Hospice needs £16,637 a day to provide all the specialist palliative care and end of life care services to those we support. In 2022-23 the Hospice provided care for 323 patients in our 24-patient bedded unit, supported 357 Hospice at Home patients including 3286 visits, carried out 6435 Community Nurse Specialists visits to 1109 new patients and made 8142 clinical calls.
