Falkirk FC players make surprise visit to Strathcarron for life-long fan

We had some very special visitors today when Falkirk Football Club players Brad Spencer and Tom Lang visited Strathcarron to surprise life-long Falkirk supporter Willy.

Willy’s wife Lorraine said: “Willy has been a season ticket holder for over 50 years so this has been an amazing experience for him.

“Until this season when he has been really unwell, he had barely missed a game.

“He has had a tough few weeks so this really has made his day and lifted his spirits.”

We would like to thank Brad, Tom, Falkirk’s supporter’s liaison Kevin and everyone at Falkirk FC for making this possible for the family and for their continued support for the Hospice.

HRH The Princess Royal Visits Strathcarron Hospice

HRH The Princess Royal was given a warm welcome when she visited Strathcarron Hospice on Friday. The Princess Royal, a familiar face at the Fankerton Hospice, met with the new CEO of the Hospice Mags McCarthy for the first time, alongside Lord Lieutenant Alan Simpson, Provost Robert Bissett and Chief Superintendent Roddy Irvine, Divisional Commander of Forth Valley Division Police Scotland. She then toured the Hospice spending time chatting with staff, volunteers, supporters and patients.
CEO Mags McCarthy goes 'back to the floor'

Our CEO Mags McCarthy has been ‘back to the floor’ this week spending time on the ward of our in-patient unit, our Lymphodeama Clinic and in the community with our Clinical Nurse Specialist team. Mags, a former nurse, is shadowing different teams around the Hospice during her first few months to engage with staff and hear directly about their experiences.

Wellbeing garden project is blooming wonderful

Today marks the end of an era at Strathcarron as we spent our last day with our CEO Irene McKie at the helm before she retires. Irene has spent 44 years working in health care, having swapped a career in NHS management to take over the running of the Hospice in September 2006.
