Gordon and Richard walk the Great Glen for Strathcarron Friends Gordon Mathers and Richard Watson have recently completed the Great Glen Way walking 80 miles between Forth William to Inverness in aid of the Hospice. The former workmates have raised the fantastic sum of £3056.63! Gordon 60, from Larbert, and Richard 61, from Tullibody, are former colleagues who worked together for the National House Building Council. Gordon said: “We enjoy walking and completed the West Highland Way last year. We wanted to take on another challenge and decided to do this one for a local charity that would make an impact on local people. “We had our Strathcarron t-shirts on the whole way and it was a great talking point – lots of people stopped to talk to us about our challenge and some donated online or handed us cash. It was a great experience. The view across Loch Ness was amazing and we met lots of lovely people along the way. “We are really pleased to have raised over £3000 for such a great cause.” Marion Blainey, Strathcarron Hospice Community Fundraiser, said: “We would like to thank Gordon and Richard for taking on this amazing challenge for the Hospice. We are very grateful for every donation. Every wee contribution makes a big difference to those we support. “Strathcarron needs £19,452 daily to be able to provide palliative care and end of life services to patients and their loved ones – every pound donated is vital.” Find out more about fundraising for us Fundraising involvement | Strathcarron Hospice Manage Cookie Preferences
