John kindly donated us a car full of bedding plants as he wants to "brighten up the lives of others at the Hospice".

John, with help from his friend Bill who is one of our Compassionate Neighbour volunteers, delivered them to us for our garden.

Bill has been volunteering for Strathcarron as a Compassionate Communities befriender for a number of years supporting those within the Hospice community.

John and Bill, both from Kilsyth, were matched together in 2023 with Bill regularly visiting John since then.

John said: "Gardening and nature can be very therapeutic. It’s lovely to see flowers in boom and if it brings some happiness to staff and patients I will be glad.

“I like to be able to help the Hospice when I can. I managed to raise £11,500 during COVID by doing a sponsored walk and donate regularly. I am a great believer that you need to support local charities as you never know when you will need their help.”

Sandra Fleming, Physiotherapist with the Strathcarron Hospice Allied Health Professionals (AHP team) who helps with gardening at the Hospice, said: “We would like to thank John for this very generous donation for the Hospice. It was a very kind gesture.

“We are very grateful for the support we receive from our local community; every contribution makes a big difference to those we support. These plants will make our garden a colourful place for staff, patients and their families to enjoy."

John and Bill would like to thank Lily’s Grace Garden Centre for their assistance with the flowers.

The Hospice would also like to thank Kilsyth Community Shed who meet at the garden centre who have also donated £35 towards the Hospice.
