A huge THANK YOU to Karen Clarkson for her amazing fundraising efforts in memory of her mum Pat Scobbie.

Karen recently organised a fundraiser for Strathcarron in McGregors, Alloa, which included Karen and husband David having their hair shorn by local hairdresser Jackie Dick.

The event had been organised in advance of Pat being admitted for an 8 week stay in the Hospice. Sadly, Pat died on 8 March, the day before the event took place.

Karen bravely decided to continue with the event through her grief raising an amazing £2400 much needed funds for the Hospice.

"Mum must have given me some strength to get through the day."

She said: “It was very emotional for us all as mum had passed away the day before but we didn’t want to cancel it. Mum must have given me some strength to get through the day.

“Mum spent eight weeks in the Hospice and had also been cared for by Hospice at Home before that, so we just wanted to do something to help give back to the Hospice. Staff were so compassionate and caring – we could not fault the care that she received. Mum got on so well with all the staff and they had some good banter with her. I would like to thank everyone for her care and for everyone who donated and supported our event."

Karen would like to thank Bar Aldo, McGregors, Perfection Beauty, Cheezie’s Coonty Candy and singer Alana Johnston for support the event.
