McDonald's donation gives Strathcarron a fundraising boost A bumper cheque for £20,000 has been donated to Strathcarron from local McDonald’s restaurants across the Forth Valley and Cumbernauld helping the Hospice to continue to deliver its vital work. The money was donated from the proceeds of the ‘McDonald’s in the Community Foundation’ 10p paper bag charge, run by ESJ Restaurants and will cover the cost of a new creative arts room within the Hospice. Strathcarron Hospice has to raise £16,637 daily to provide all the specialist end of life care services to individuals and their families across its communities. Claire Kennedy, Corporate Fundraiser, Strathcarron Hospice said: “We are very grateful to the team at ESJ Restaurants and McDonald’s for keeping the Hospice in their thoughts and donating this money. Thanks to the purchases of customers at their restaurants, this money will go direct to caring for people when they need us most. “Creative arts are an integral part of our patient experience, and if patients choose to take advantage of this facility they may be led and guided in a wide variety of projects by our Creative Arts Facilitators and volunteers. “The work is very patient centred, tailored to the individual’s needs, abilities and choices and often providing a completely new experience for the patient. Each piece of work is unique, as they invest themselves in their creation – thoughts, memories and feelings are all encapsulated in the finished piece. “Sometimes the very act of creating the piece is the driving force, as the process provides a focus and distraction from life’s challenges, or it may be a gift for themselves, for loved ones or, quite simply, a legacy.” McDonald's staff visit Strathcarron's Craft Room Lewis Jardine, Community Relations Manager at McDonald’s in Falkirk, said: “We’re proud to support our local community and the important work of Strathcarron Hospice. The team are an inspiration and the work they do is truly commendable, providing an indispensable service to people in our area. “We look forward to continuing to support the charity and to working with Claire and the team in the future.” Find out more about fundraising for us: Fundraising Donate here: Make A Donationor contact the Fundraising Team on 01324 826 222 email [email protected] Click here for more Strathcarron Hospice News Manage Cookie Preferences
