Nurses Caroline and Mel celebrate 20 years at Strathcarron! Congratulations to nurses Caroline and Mel who are celebrating 20 years of working at Strathcarron! They were presented with special awards during our AGM held this week. Marjory Mackay, Director of Nursing Strathcarron Hospice, said: “The passion, resilience and unwavering commitment that Caroline and Mel bring into the work they do is exemplary. I think it’s incredible to be in any job for 20 years - but 20 years in palliative nursing, that’s the biggest wow ever! Making a difference every day to so many people with their compassion, skill, wisdom and their distinctive human touch. Caroline and Mel really live out the ethos of Hospice Care and have adapted in such a positive way to all the changes over the last two decades. They’re both really proud of what they do and we are grateful to them both. They’re a huge credit to the Hospice. Caroline joined Strathcarron with a wealth of experience in mental health, bringing with her years of expertise as she joined our inpatient team. When our Live Your Life team launched in 2020, she was right there at the heart of it. Caroline is a bit like a swan, always calm and graceful on the surface and underneath deals with all the hustle and bustle, making sure everything flows smoothly. We’re so lucky to have her as part of our team! Mel is one of our amazing Community Nurse Specialists - lighting up every room she walks into. With compassion, professionalism, common sense, and always with a smile, she supports people in their last months, weeks and days of life. Her role is right at the sharp end of community palliative care. Just today, Mel told me she still absolutely loves her job, and that says it all. We’re so grateful to have Mel on our team! We are proud of all that they have given to Strathcarron Hospice and to our communities. Both are living examples of our mission statement - In, with and for our communities, enabling people to live and die well." Manage Cookie Preferences
