Strathcarron Hospice celebrates Volunteers Week 2026 It’s Volunteers’ Week 1-7 June and we’re taking time to celebrate our amazing volunteers! The positive impact they make is incredible and we would like to encourage others to consider taking up volunteering themselves. Teenager Cameron has been volunteering his time in our Bridge of Allan Vintage charity shop for almost two years, serving customers and helping put out new stock. This has helped develop Cameron's skills and confidence. He also enjoys knowing that he is giving something back to his community and helping a local charity. Cameron Our wonderfully enthusiastic volunteers donate their time in so many incredible ways – from fundraising, volunteering in our shops, to managing our reception, to offering comfort and support to patients and their families. There are many ways to help and whether you are able to volunteer for a few hours once a week, once a month or even once a year, your time makes a big difference. Each role requires different skills, strengths and time there will be a role that is right for you.Volunteers are the backbone of our Hospice community driving countless activities and initiatives. That’s why this Volunteers’ Week is dedicated to honouring and recognising their hard work and invaluable contributions each year. There are over 400 people who regularly volunteer their time to support your Hospice. Their roles vary considerably and all of them bring something very special to our workplace. To be amongst people who have the heart to help others with no financial gain makes for a very happy atmosphere, even within the sadness we often witness. You might be surprised to learn we have volunteers who carry our professional roles such as in our Finance team, IT and Maintenance working alongside volunteer drivers, flower arrangers and receptionists. Of course there are too many to mention but we would like to highlight all the volunteers who work within Strathcarron shops as, without them, these shops could not exist. Volunteering and helping others can reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose. While it’s true that the more you volunteer, the more benefits you’ll experience, volunteering doesn’t have to involve long-term commitment or take a huge amount of time from your busy day. Giving in even simple ways can help those in need and improve your health and happiness.
