Thank you.

Two simple words; amongst the first we are taught, engrained so they are said almost sub-consciously. Today is different and for that reason I say these two simple words consciously and with sincerity.

45 years ago today, 21st April 1981, Strathcarron Hospice opened the doors to welcome in local people, giving access to the very best of care when living with, and dying from, an incurable illness. That was the vision for the ward with 7 beds, which holds true as much today as it did then, albeit it on a far larger and complex scale.

45 years equals 16,425 days and it has been our privilege to be here for you and the people you love for every single one of them. Thousands of ordinary people have passed through the doors and every single one of them is treated as if they are the first; the most special. Today we reflect on all these most special lives who we have had the honour of touching.

You are receiving this today as you have contributed to keeping the vision alive since 1981.

Thank you.
