To mark 'Celebrate 45’ – the 45^th anniversary of Strathcarron Hospice – some of our lipoedema patients met for swimming and movement at Stirling Highland Hotel.

This gathering provided an opportunity for those with the condition to meet and chat with others and celebrate the support and care provided by Strathcarron Hospice.

One patient swam 450 metres during the session to show her support!

Lipoedema patient Aileen said: “I was diagnosed in December 2024 with lipoedema by my GP and was referred to the specialist service at the Hospice. I had never even heard of the condition before.

"I met with one of the specialists Yolande and she was amazing. She really put me at ease.

"I had always believed I just had big legs, but she explained all about the condition and gave me some amazing advice. Knowing that it’s not my fault has helped my confidence increase.

"The treatment has been super and the team is always very supportive. I couldn’t speak highly enough about them – the care I have received has been marvellous.”
