Golfers from across the area turned out for the 39th Rotary Club of Bridge of Allan and Dunblane Charity Am-Am Golf Tournament last week.

The event hosted at Dunblane New Golf Club, was organised as a fundraiser for Strathcarron Hospice raised £12,000.

Bill Carman, from the Rotary Club of Bridge of Allan and Dunblane, said: “We are always keen to support the Hospice in any way we can, it does a great job. We would like to thank everyone who took part in the event – hosts Dunblane New Golf Club, our sponsors, volunteers and everyone who travelled from far and wide to take part.”

One of the attendees taking part was former international footballer Fiona Brown. She said: “Strathcarron is such a good cause. It’s a place where families can get support in tough times. I am pleased to be along to support the event today and hopefully the tournament will make a lot of money for a good cause.”

Lorna Brown Director at Dunblane New Golf Club, said: “We are delighted to host the Rotary Club’s annual golf event. Strathcarron is such an important cause for members, guests and the local community. We are looking forward to continuing to support the event into the future.”

Melissa Duffy, Community Fundraiser at Strathcarron Hospice, said: “We would like to thank everyone involved in the event for their generosity and community spirit for such a fantastic day of golf.

“Every wee contribution makes a big difference to those we support. Strathcarron needs £19,452 daily to be able to provide palliative care and end of life services to patients and their loved ones – so every pound donated is vital.”
