Janette's Story Janette My husband had been a patient in the Hospice in 1996 and the care was exceptional. I was a trained nurse and later went on to work at the hospice for a few years in the inpatient unit. It was difficult emotionally at first being in the rooms my husband had been in, but it got easier. When I think back to my time working in the ward it was like a big family - everyone was so friendly. I moved to Aberdeen and volunteered at Roxburghe House (a hospice) for 14 years one day a week. I really enjoyed it and when I moved back to this area I sought out volunteering opportunities with Strathcarron. I have been a befriender as part of the Compassionate Communities team, helped with flower arranging in the Hospice and have helped in the kitchen serving teas, coffees and lunch. Strathcarron is such a wonderful place, I am happy to give what time I can to help. I have really enjoyed my volunteering experiences.
